Originally painted in 1992 and re-painted in 2003
The Mural on the side of the Museum is being re-painted by the original artist, Bob McCausland.  Bob originally painted it in 1992, but it has since faded.  Starting the project in June 2003, he is being assisted by Gina Jane'.

Bob McCausland has painted many other Murals in Grays Harbor County.

Further information from Bruce Weilepp:
The Pacific County Mural presented several challenges, including the very rough wall texture, and the hot sun that often dried paint before it could be applied to the wall.  Sponsors of the mural restoration project include the Willapa Heritage Foundation, Raymond Federal Bank, and Bud's Lumber.  The student artists, Justin Carey and Gina Jane', were selected by South Bend art teacher Candy Nichols.  Mitch Vein was the project safety advisor.  Scaffolding was provided by the South Bend School District.

Herman Schlick and the new Stone Tool Display
Herman Schlick and Diantha Weilepp admire the stone tool display made in 1997.  Visitors can see the Society's entire archeological collection in the lower drawers thanks to Mr. Schlick's generous donation.  The interpretive display above explains stone tool making craft.

1999 Volunteers
VOLUNTEERS
Volunteers are the lifeblood of the Pacific County Historical Society.  Volunteers govern the Society, write, edit and mail our magazine, open and close the museum, write the newsletter, and perform many other visible and invisible functions.  Although we generally believe that the work should be its own reward we did hold a special volunteer dinner on May 27, 1999 at the Pizza Loft in Raymond honoring several retiring volunteers who have given many years of service.  Photographer Allen Richard Curtis recorded the event for posterity.  If you are interested in helping with the Society's work please contact the museum director at (360) 875-5224.
